[ showcase #13 - can I call you mine ]
Nov. 29th, 2011 06:44 pm[ Action - 1491 Kramden Rd ]
[It's really getting more difficult to climb out of bed after Mayfield's pulling shit like that. Again. Dying in the town offers no surcease, no escape from its horror. Hal continues out of spite, but it's certainly not easy.
The mail arrives promptly that morning. An envelope is addressed to him, its white folds betraying nothing of its contents. Tearing it open with his thumb, what looks to be a piece of cardstock about the size of a playing card falls out, falling face down onto the tile.]
Hm?
[A symbol rendered in black and yellow greets Hal when he picks the card up. Though similar in execution as the emblem of the Green Lantern Corps, this is unfamiliar to him. It seems somehow sinister...]
"DAD!" "DADDY!" "Youuuu'll be laaaate!"
[The explosive, jeering laughter of the drone kids come to him as they scurry into the kitchen, smiling their empty smiles. Hal looks back at the card...flips it around.
The symbol is gone.
He flicks the card onto the counter next to the envelope.]
Haven't got time for- hey! Those are my shoes!
[And it goes forgotten for now.]
[ Action - Mayfield High ]
[Aside from being late, nothing at all seems to have changed for everyone's favorite (and only) Astronomy teacher, but his smile might appear a little...forced. When the bell rings he's relieved, but turns as people gather their things.]
The due date for your papers has been pushed back to next Monday. And mark your calenders, two weeks from tonight on the thirteenth is the Geminid Meteor Shower. For those interested, there will be a watching party that night on the Point, I'll have more info closer to the day. Get some rest, guys.
[He waits for them to file out and takes a seat on his desk, rubbing at his temples. The day can't end fast enough.]
