[ Showcase #4 - Where there is Light ]
[Action 1; Post Office; Mid-morning]
[His week, thus far, has sucked. Pulling a corpse out of a pool tends to do that to a guy. It's with no small amount of mild paranoia (and curiosity, let's be honest) that he stops in at the post office to claim the package waiting for him. Outside, he uses his house key to cut a jagged tear in the box tape, pulling the top flap off and finding himself greeted by a cool, green glow.]
No way.
[Lifting the handle just slightly, the edge of what appears to be a green railroad lantern can be seen before he slips it back in the box. Hal's day has just turned up.]
Oh baby, are you ever a sight for sore eyes.
[Action 2; Neutron Diner; Afternoon]
[After the power battery has been safely stowed at the house (as he wishes he had somewhere more secure...Sinestro is surely chortling at him), he stops in for a late lunch. Maybe he sees a friend?]

Here's a hint: it might be.

Home. Now.

[Holding the box to his chest, he lets her pull him along like a recalcitrant child.]
Should we stop by ye olde Pleasantville grocers? I think this calls for a beer, or several. Olney's is a little too bland for my tastes.

Beer? Come on, this is a champagne occasion if I've ever seen one.

[Her excitement is infectious, and he chuckles.]
It just seems to be the battery, I'm still missing an integral piece of the puzzle. But this is a start, at least.

Wait, so it doesn't actually do anything?

Once I get my ring, it will provide its charge. A power ring is only useful if you have a way of charging it, otherwise you'll get one good light show and a pretty, empty ring. Considering how the town nerfs powers here, I wouldn't be surprised if it drains ring energy at a faster rate.

Got a plan on how to get your ring back, then, hoss?

[At her look he sobers, mildly.] I'll burn that bridge when I come to it. It might take another trip to the post office and a trade of some kind to have it returned.
